Coffee Sessions: Coffee Cupping with the Captain
Category - Food & Drinks
The big top hosted Indonesian coffee royalty for the first chapter of the Sea Circus Coffee Sessions last month.
Charles ‘The Captain’ Stewart {WA Barista champion} hosted a cupping tasting session with the Indonesian World Barista Championship judge as well as past Balinese and Indonesian barista & latte art champions.
Our own baristas were pretty stoked to try coffee from all over the world, learning about the different factors that affect the tast of coffee. Here’s what we cupped {or sipped and tasted}…
First: A comparison of processing methods
Ethiopian YirgZero – fully washed
Ethiopian Worka – Naturally processed
Brazil Alice estate – Pulped natural
Second: A look at terroir, observing the difference between two coffees from neighboring farms
Costa Rica Granitos de Altura el Ortiz
Costa Rica Granitos de Altura Los Pinos
We will be working with the Captain throughout 2014 to take our offering to the next level of consistency and flavour stimulation. At the next Coffee Session in mid-June, we are lucky enough to have the whole Five Senses tribe over on an origin trip. We will be introducing a third 5 Senses bean to compliment our specialty Single Origin Custom Roasted Kintamani House bean & our Ethiopian Yirgacheffe Cold Filter Drip Coffee brew.
Chapter 2 of the Coffee Sessions coming soon…
